Me looking at you, looking back at Me.

Works in progress doc.

Sort of a self-assignment but for this piece, the parameters I usually set are useless.
(Like limiting it to a single image to put on the wall in a frame.)

So I did sculpture/mixed media instead.

In progress: "Me looking at you, looking back at Me."

Mixed Media // Human Hair, Glitter, Hand Mirror, Transparency, Figurines

New work alert:

Looking forward to shooting a new model this week.
Keep an eye out for another update with finished work!

ARTIST STATEMENT:

Receiving Absence is a series of images that are investigating my interest in language and the creations that are brought to us through words and imagery. This series of images is looking into attraction language through a series of response images. The words I am investigating in these images are posted below each piece. Through this process of “what comes to mind” I am striking the possibility of others interpretations. These are presenting my interpretations. Symbolism is asking too much. Through this, we are receiving absence.

Princess Meerkat: Subtle, but true.

Mild, and subtle.

Me looking at you, looking back at me: In progress.

Ingredients: Human hair, pink hair dye, vol. 40 bleach, hand mirror, miniature meerkat figurine.

Been thinking about this piece for a while. Now it's finally coming into reality.

All it took was some Aquanet, Krylon Triple Thick Glaze, and a trip to he cosmetic store.

Oh, and all the hair I had cut off my head.

Personality is a nice word.

This just about describes mine.

Expression is the finest quality one can hold.

Pardon the solemn look, but it was a test shot. Haven't shot in black and white in a while. Decided to see how that felt. It was nice.

New pink wig came in today. Thank you, USPS. That was the best pink slip of paper I have received in a while.

Martha Rotten, Studio Shoot

Had the opportunity to photograph local Baltimore jewelry designer, Martha Rotten!
Her work is beautiful.

See more of her work here.

Figuring all of this out.

Self Portrait, November 2011

Thoughts of revisitation are persistent...

I remember in undergrad having a mild infatuation with windows.
I have yet to figure out if it belongs to the fact that voyeurism excites me in a curious way.
A new perspective is always welcome.

Even artists need help sometimes.

Welcome to the studio, inspiration board.

Expired Polaroid Sheet Film

Still trying to figure out if it's the film, or the bellows that are causing the ghosting on the left side of each image...

Ghoulish gifts.

A couple days ago I mentioned a thought about my want/need for more studio equipment.
Just like that, it happened.

It may be old school, but it's so cool.

Halloween, two days late.

The photographs were taken on time. Actually, before they were "due."

Sharing is caring right?

Beer & Pumpkin Carving.

Cob-webbing.

More cob-webbing and Halloween merchandising.

Jesus needs a little love too.

Halloween was lovely.
It's definitely one to add to the list stories to tell around the fire pit.

Left overs from Mr. Boombox Pt. II

My burner camp mates and I started a monthly party at Grand Central in Baltimore called Mr. [BOOM] Box - sponsored by the Garden of Heathens (our camp) and Grand Central Station. The party works.

This is after the party, where my dear friend Aurora is adjusting my other darling ladies corset.

Does Susie not look like a she's posing for a glossy magazine spread?

This guy is a sweet heart.

In the absence of time, events certainly occur.

Here's looking at you, unintentionally neglected blog.
I don't know what about this blank wall inspired me to take the picture...
